Stock Racing
Appaloosa, Appendix Quarter Horse, Quarter Horse, and Paint Horse are the current recognized breeds to compete in stock racing in Spur.Stock or Quarter Horse races are measured in yards and they typically run races between 220 yards (One furlong or . 125 miles) to 770 yards (~ three and a half furlongs or . 44 miles). However, as the general name indicates, the classic distance for Quarter Horse races is 440 yards, which is equivalent to a quarter of a mile.
Divisions
Juvenile
Juvenile races are for 2 year old horses only.
Maiden
Maiden races are for horses who have not yet won a race. Once a horse has won a race, they should be moved to the Allowance level of racing. Horses do not HAVE to start out in maiden races, but it is suggested that they do to get some experience under their girths.
Allowance
These types of rules are for runners who have broken their maidens but aren’t quite ready for (or up to) stakes-level competition. These types of races, which can have multiple conditions, provide a horse with more race experience and opportunities for success at a less difficult level.
Graded Stakes
Graded stakes are the highest caliber of races. They are further divided into Grade 3s (the lowest level), Grade 2s and Grade 1s (the highest level). The most competitive and richest races in the world are G1 races. Horses can fluxuate between graded levels. There are no requirements for how a horse moves within the graded ranks. Some horses may go straight from an allowance race into a G2 or G1 race.
For the sake of SIM, a level should be chosen HOWEVER for the major races, the top horses in the game will be allowed to race (example, for the Kentucky Derby, the top 3yos will qualify regardless if they are a G1 horse or an allowance horse).
